Title Camp 2 - Inside Title Insurance: Non-Imputation, Affidavits & Mezzanine Endorsements

I began my career as a commercial real estate attorney in the Puget Sound area. Serving the needs of medical offices, tenants and mixed-use multifamily apartment developers, my path led to me to collaborate with title insurers on numerous projects. Moving in-house, I now have the privilege of working with First American Title’s National Commercial Services team, providing underwriting support for transactions across the country. I am an experienced real estate and contracts attorney with expertise in managing equity acquisitions; counseling clients on Municipal and County land use regulations; and navigating through land development projects.

Matt serves as Division Underwriting Counsel for First American Title’s National Commercial Services division, providing underwriting and legal guidance on complex, multi-state commercial transactions. Prior to joining First American, he was a shareholder at a Nashville law firm, where he advised public and private companies on real estate, commercial finance, land use, and municipal matters. He also served as City Attorney for Forest Hills, Tennessee. Matt brings deep expertise in medical real estate, distressed assets, construction law, and real estate finance. He earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.A. in Political Science from Emory University.
